What changes the price

What affects the price — and what doesn't

Doesn't change the price

  • Which state you live in
  • Whether you have 1 or 2 pets
  • The type of animal
  • Sharing your letter and verification ID with your housing provider

Optional extras, only if you need them

  • Letter plus help with your landlord's own accommodation form$179 or $159/yr

Most renters only need the standard letter. Remote notarization coordination is also available on request, for the rare housing provider that asks for it.

Klarna (one-time packages)

Available at checkout, subject to Klarna's eligibility check and terms. An instalment plan spreads the same total — it is not a lower price.

Annual plans

Paid by card and renewed automatically at the renewal price shown. Cancel any time from your account.

Secure checkout

Card payments are processed by Stripe. You enter your card details in Stripe's secure payment fields, so PawTenant never sees or stores your full card number.

When you pay, and refunds

What happens to your payment

You don't qualify

Full refund. No letter is issued, and no fee is kept.

You cancel early

Full refund before documented clinical work begins. After it begins, a $30 service fee is kept and the rest refunded.

Your landlord says no

You can submit a housing-denial claim for review. A denial does not qualify for a refund automatically.

Before you buy the cheapest option

What to check when comparing ESA letter prices

A low price only helps if the letter does its job. Whoever you choose, look for:

  • A professional licensed in your state, with the license number and NPI on the letter
  • An individual review — not instant approval
  • A clear refund if you don't qualify
  • A way for your landlord to verify the letter
  • No paid “registration” presented as necessary
  • The renewal price shown up front if it's a subscription

Is a cheaper letter from somewhere else valid?

It can be, if it meets the points on this list. Price alone doesn't tell you; the license, the review and the verification do.

Licensed professionals

Every package includes a licensed professional's review

Your price covers an individual evaluation by a mental health professional licensed in your state.

Provider availability varies by state. Your assessment is matched to a professional licensed in your state, who may or may not be one of the professionals shown here. Each license and NPI can be checked on the public NPPES registry and your state licensing board.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an ESA letter cost at PawTenant?
$129 one-time for up to 2 pets, or $149 for 3 pets. The annual plan is $115 for the first year and then renews at $100 per year for 1 pet or $115 per year for 2 pets until you cancel.
Are there hidden fees?
No. The package price includes the licensed professional's evaluation and your letter if you qualify. Optional extras, such as help with a landlord's own accommodation form, are listed with their prices on this page, and checkout shows your total before you pay.
Is the one-time letter or the annual plan cheaper?
If you only need a letter once, the one-time letter at $129 costs less. If you expect to need updated documentation every year, the annual plan costs $115 in the first year and $100 per year after that for 1 pet, and it renews automatically until you cancel.
Can I pay in instalments?
For one-time packages, Klarna is available at checkout, subject to Klarna's eligibility check and terms. Paying in instalments spreads the same total over time; it is not a lower price. Annual plans are paid by card.
Do I pay if I don't qualify?
You pay at checkout, before the clinical review. If the licensed professional decides you do not qualify, no letter is issued and you receive a full refund. Refunds usually appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.
Does a second pet cost extra?
No. The one-time letter covers up to 2 pets for $129, where the reviewing professional finds it clinically appropriate. Three pets are a fixed $149.
What if I cancel after paying?
If you cancel before documented clinical work on your order begins, you receive a full refund. If you cancel after it has begun, a $30 service fee is kept and the rest is refunded. The refund policy explains how housing-denial claims are reviewed.
